Google Chrome browser address bar (Omni bar) getting extremely slow with windows 8.1

Recently I updated my Windows 8 PC to the 8.1 version. One of the changes that I noticed after the upgrade is, the search bar (URL bar, Omni bar) of my chrome browser getting slow.
Tried the common restart, cache clearing, etc. But didn’t get solved. The solution for this is as follows.
You will have to delete the cache files in the hidden profile folder at
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default \Cache
This solved the problem for me.
